I know it doesn’t seem like it yet, but Christmas is only just around the corner! The weather is definitely starting to get that springtime feeling, and it’s inspired me to get sewing! For those fellow crafters out there, you know it takes time to get all your sewing projects organised in time for these big events:) We like to start early!
If you have any ladies in your life who would like an ‘out of the ordinary’ gift that is as practical as it is pretty, you might consider a reusable period kit. (All right, you might not want to stick this one under the Christmas tree with the rest of the family presents, but it’s still worth considering!)
I know someone out there will question me on WHY it’s a good gift option… Isn’t it a bit mean giving someone such a ‘practical’ gift? We’ve all heard the stories about people receiving vacuum cleaners for their birthdays and being upset about it. (I’ve never really understood this… Someone, please gift me a stick vacuum! Ha ha. They’re the best, and mine is slowly falling apart. I definitely wouldn’t complain!) Sorry, got distracted there, but just in case that person asking is you, here are a few good reasons for why a reusable pad kit is something to love!
- DewDrops pads are made of ORGANIC cotton, while many disposable sanitary products are known to contain toxins. (Not exactly what you want to wear close to your body!) This makes it a perfect gift for someone who cares for their health.
- It will save them MONEY. No, really. The average woman uses approximately 11,000 disposable sanitary products in her lifetime. Reusable pads can last up to five years (or possibly more!) with proper care.
- It saves WASTE. Good for the planet… but seriously, it’s also nice not having to deal with smelly sanitary bins in the home. (And just because it’s a common question: no, it’s not hard to care for reusables. Simply rinse, machine wash and dry.)
- They are PRETTY. Like really pretty, and made in various prints and colours to suit anyone. Check out our photo gallery for a few options to inspire you!
In the meantime, I will get back to sewing. 🙂 Till the next catch-up!
